How to Give Your Dog the Best Christmas Ever.... on a budget

Christmas is a magical time, especially for our four-legged family members! This year, why not give your pup the gift of feeling extra special on Christmas? Here are some tips and tricks to make sure your pup feels loved and appreciated this holiday season

A Doggy Christmas Dinner!

Make a fuss of their normal dinner and let your dog eat at the same time you are chomping down your Christmas spuds - heck, go to town and let your dog sit near the dinner table. Your laughter and merriment will show your dog its a different and special dinner. Come on - you don't often sit at your dinner table wearing silly hats and pulling crackers do you? Do you....?

A Doggy Christmas Hat....

Controversial one this - I personally feel dogs are a little bit miffed at being dressed up but don't they look ADORABLE when they are? You'll make up for it with the Christmas Dinner [ see above] but the pictures you'll take will add to your Christmas Cheer!

Their Own Christmas Pressie

Yes, there is a cost of living crisis to deal with so if you can't afford to splash out on fancy gifts, then try this. Your dog really doesn't want you spending money you haven't got so your smelliest, oldest shoe will do. Wrap it up so your dog gets to tear the paper apart and make a mess [ Please avoid choking hazards like plastic etc]. Its Christmas, you'll clean up the mess and you'll leave your dog wondering what's got into you!

A New Dog Walk Route / Extra Game in the Park
We hear your groans for this one - after all that food?  If you have the energy after an exciting day of present opening and gorging on chocolates, why not take your pup out on an extra long walk, a new walk route or play a fetch game you don't normally do?

Your dog will love the new smells / extra activity even though it'll be a little hard on you. Grin and bare it - its Christmas and it'll do wonders for all those extra calories you've consumed.

This year, it shouldn't cost anything to make your pup feel the love and excitement of Christmas. Your dog will feel great and you'll make some lovely memories too.

Happy Christmas from The Smug Dog!
